The Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S is a lower-grade lens, but still one that potential 14-24mm f/2.8 S buyers may be considering. It’s a less expensive lens at $1300 (sometimes on sale for $1100) and lighter at 485 grams / 1.07 pounds rather than 650 grams / 1.43 pounds – not exactly a surprise considering that it’s an f/4 rather than an f/2.8 lens.

Looks like the new 24-120 f/4 is a tad bit sharper compared to this, but I think I am happy with this focal range. I even bought the Z 18-140 for my Z50, which makes a really light weight backpacking kit for me. Thanks

Now the 24-70 f4. It is nice to have, but I am not in awe of it. I needed a bit of reach and it won’t help. I needed a faster lens at night, and it didn’t have. Before moving to Z, I had tamron 24-70 2.8G2 on my D750 and it was my go to lens. But I didn’t find I often needed the 24-70 lens anymore.
