If you are teaching your students using a strategic order of facts, they will only have a few facts left to learn for the 6’s, 7’s, and 8’s. For these facts we can teach students how to use a known fact. For example, for the equation 6×6, we could use a fact that we know like 5×6, and then just add one more group of 6.
The steps are: Step 1a: View, read aloud and repeat. To get familiar with the table. Step 1b: Fill in your times tables answers in sequence and check if you got them all right. Step 2: Drag the correct answers to the questions. Step 3: Fill in your answers for the mixed questions and check if you got them all right.
Memorize multiplication tables up through 15. Usually, in elementary school, you are required to memorize the multiplication tables from 0-10. Practice those again, adding in 11-15. Knowing that many multiplications by memory alone will speed up your calculations significantly. You should also learn tricks.

And keep in mind, the shorter a thing is, the easier it is to remember. That’s why I always use the shortest option for multiplication facts: ‘Seven eights are 56.’. It reduces the amount pupils need to recall, making it easier to build those auditory sound bites. Consider this when deciding which phrase to repeat across your school.
